This Old House (June 2026) puts installed artificial grass at $15 to $19 a sq ft: materials $2 to $8 and labor $4 to $12. Fixr's figure, last updated in August 2022, was $5 to $12.50.

Doing it yourself, the turf is the big cost: Fixr lists polypropylene at $2 to $6 a sq ft, polyethylene $2.50 to $4 and nylon $5 to $6. Then add base rock, infill, seam tape, nails and a compactor rental. The materials calculator works out how much of each.
